Project CS (Camden)

This independent primary school in Camden were looking to make use of an atrium area that connected several Early Years classrooms. It was uninspiring and underused. The brief was to create a multi-use space for the children to use freely and that gave an indoor/outdoor feel. They didn’t want to colours to feel too garish and wanted to connect the children to nature and it’s palette. What a dream brief to get!

The result is a softly colourful space that offers lots for the children to experience. There is a dedicated art area with easy access to all the materials, a little stage for all their lovely performances, a kitchenette that helps the children learn about ingredients and (supervised) cooking. There is a pull down table when needed but can easily store up to give more playspace. A dress up area, and general play space. Plus lots of storage!
Bespoke planters on castors were created to allow spaces to be zoned while offering green views. And finally, using the atrium roof, high level planters were attached to allow climbers to grown along the roof to create a green overhead canopy. The result is a fabulous, multi-use room that delights children and adults alike.
